Contributing to pharmacy education

Culturally capable Pharmacists! How do we get there?
Presented by CEO Bronwyn Clark and Board Director Professor Faye McMillan at the 12th International Closing the Gap Conference, May 2022, Gold Coast
Pharmacists are one of the most accessible health professionals and play a critical role in delivery of health services for Indigenous peoples. One of the key deliverables for the APC, as Australia’s accreditation authority for pharmacy education, is to develop a workforce that is culturally safe for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
In this presentation Faye and Bronwyn outlined how the development of a culturally safe pharmacy workforce can be achieved through partnership, leadership, and the embedding of cultural safety into pharmacy education programs and transforming pharmacy curriculum. They also shared the work of APC in the cultural safety webinar series and the establishment of the Leaders in Indigenous Pharmacy Profession Education (LIPPE) network.
